In the spring of 2022, Region 3 HMCC conducted a Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (HVA). One of the top five hazards for the region identified was a cyber-attack. During a mitigation strategies workshop for the HVA, one method to reduce the impact and likelihood of a cyber-attack was to provide the region resources and tools to better prepare and protect their organizations.
Region 3 staff and the Region 3 Board of Governors worked with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Chief of Cybersecurity, Region 1 (New England) Daniel King to conduct a training that provided resources, tools and best practices to enhance Cybersecurity across the healthcare sector.
CISA leads the national effort to understand, manage, and reduce risk to cyber and physical infrastructure. CISA connects stakeholders in industry and government to each other and to resources, analyses, and tools to help them build their own cyber, communications, and physical security and resilience.
