Region 3 Equipment Cache

On September 2, 2020, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management (OPEM) announced that funding from the Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences (BIDLS) would be allocated to each Health and Medical Coordinating Coalition (HMCC) to support flu clinics hosted by Local Public Health Departments within each region. Region 3 Local Public Health Departments may request to utilize equipment from the BIDLS Cache to establishing and operating an influenza immunization clinic, but can be request for other clinics pre-approved by OPEM.

The Region 3 Equipment Cache is located at the Westford Public Health Department 55 Main St. Westford MA

In order for a Local Public Health Department to request these items for a local flu clinic or other authorized use, they much:

  • Submit a formal resource request through the Region 3 Duty Officer. All request must be submitted no later than 10 business days prior to request date. All requests for equipment for purpose other than an influenza immunization clinic must be submitted no later than 20 business days prior to request date.
  • Stakeholders must sign the Region 3 HMCC Equipment Loan Agreement Stakeholders must Region 3 HMCC  Subscription Form.

Things to consider

  • Prioritization of requests will be conducted by the Region 3 HMCC Staff. All equipment must be returned within 24 hours of end use as noted on request, unless otherwise predetermined.
  • Pick up and or delivery terms of resources will be determined by the Westford Public Health Representative or the HMCC Cache Manager and the requesting party.
  • HMCC staff will make all reasonable efforts to fill requests equally amongst Local Public Health Departments based off the needs of the region.
  • Region 3 HMCC and MRC Units have partnered together to create Equipment Deployment Teams to assist communities in deploying, mobilizing and demobilizing the equipment. In order to request MRC support communities must contact their local MRC Coordinator. If the local MRC does not have availability, my municipality can contact the Region 3 HMCC Duty Officer for assistance.  Set up teams are subject to availability and are not guaranteed with all requests.
